Having established its performance credentials with its mighty two-stroke triples, Kawasaki upped the 1970s motorcycle game by introducing the awe-inspiring Z1, which became known as the King of Motorcycles. The Z1 topped the late 1960s Honda CB750 by having two overhead camshafts to the Honda's one, and a displacement of 900cc.

Launched in 1972, the Z1 set new road-bike performance standards with 82hp and a top speed of around 130mph. Setting multiple records on road and track at the time, the Z1 proved itself an excellently fast and not least reliable touring motorcycle. With mild revisions, the model continued until 1976, where it was renamed the Z900. The Z1 is one of the most impactful and iconic motorcycles of all time, and benefits from enthusiastic owners' clubs in many countries. The early Z1s of 1972 and 1973 are particularly and increasingly sought after today and appreciation is among the highest of any motorcycle.

The Classic Bike House example here, was in the very first batch of ten Z1s coming to Denmark, and thus indeed to Europe as most went from Japan to the USA. It was first registered in May 1973 in Denmark, and has been in that country ever since, where it has had three owners. It has spent the last years in a private collection and has seen little use. It is recently serviced and drives excellently. The odometer reads 58.500 kilometers, which is believed genuine. The Z1 is already in an excellent, largely original, condition. Classic Bike House intends to have it undergo a nut and bolt reconditioning over the winter, after which it will be offered for sale. However, a sale is possible already now should the new owner wish to buy the motorcycle prior to reconditioning.

As always, do contact us for further information on the motorcycle, including giving you a live video walkaround inspection.
